The beautiful hills and valleys will impress you but we feel you will find our best assets are the residents. Our community is made up of civic-minded families that not only care about our community but about each other. We are a diverse group; farmers, doctors, workers and business people all living and working together to raise or families and enjoy life. We feel you will find no other area where you will be accepted more readily or feel at home more quickly.

To let you know a little about our community, the city of White House is located on the border of Sumner and Robertson Counties. Running through the center of this small community is Highway 31W. The earliest settlers in this area referred to the main route from the north to the south as the "Trail of Indian Warriors." Eventually, the trail became known as the L&N Pike or the "Old Historic Road between Louisville and Nashville."

As a natural course of events, settlers began to build their homes on or near the early Pike. One home in particular was built around 1796 and painted white. It was a stately two-story home and since houses were widely scattered on the Pike, it eventually became an overnight stop called the Stage Coach Inn. Since homes were spares, and in particular homes painted white, the stage-coach drivers began to refer to it as the first white house between Louisville and Nashville. Thus began the name "The White House," as the community was called until around 1950, when "the" was dropped.

The town began to grow around this historic landmark. The house was torn down in the early 1950's to make a way for the Gulf station that now occupies that site. Today you can see a replica of "The White House" on Hwy.76. It houses the library and office space and is an honorable addition to the community.

Thus, White House is still progressing today. It has become a thriving community with much to offer. White House has a rich heritage and a bright future, a wonderful combination of people and growth.

The city park provides a picnic area, municipal stadium which seats 2,500, baseball fields and a walking/jogging trail, also the city has a new 2+ mile paved walking and jogging trail. Baseball, football and basketball programs are available, the city has plans for a swimming pool to be in the new community center when built and a golf course is being explored. White House is centrally located with easy access to fishing, boating, swimming, hunting, museums, fine arts and musical entertainment (just 25 mile north of Music City USA - Nashville). The Civic Center offers indoor walking, basketball and a meeting area for clubs and civic activities.
